Bra Size Calculator - Finding Your Correct Bra Size
When do you use a bra size calculator? Approximately 50% of all women are wearing a bra that is not the right size for them.
That may be shocking, but if you think about when the last time was that you had a proper fitting or even checked your own measurements this shouldn't surprise you too much.
While proper bra size may not seem like a big deal, it can be. For one, bras help us look and feel better about our appearance. Wearing a well-fitting bra has been shown to make you look 5 to 10 pounds thinner and that can make a huge difference in how you feel about yourself and your body.
We all know that we don't look good when parts of our breasts are mushrooming over the tops of our bras but few of us realize that wearing the right size cup can completely eliminate that problem and improve the way we look in our favorite sweaters and blouses dramatically.
Plus, the right size bra will give us the support we need. And that means less back, neck, and shoulder strain, especially for women with larger breasts. It also means less discomfort from wires and tight straps.
Why Are So Many Bra Sizes Wrong?
Most women don't think about the changes in their bodies and how this is going to affect their breasts. Women may notice enlargement due to pregnancy but they may not know that some of that size may stick around long after breastfeeding is over. Other women don't realize that aging alone can cause changes in our bra size. Plus, if you've lost or gained weight, even just a few pounds, this can lower or raise your bra size.
Generally, we tend to find a single bra size that works and look for that size every time we go bra shopping. Unfortunately, that's not a very good idea. Different bras are designed to fit us differently so one size may work beautifully in one style but could be too large or small in another. Plus, there can be differences in sizes based on the variations from the manufacturers as well.
Getting The General Idea Of Size
Of course, we can't try on every bra in the store to make sure we choose the right one. We need a general size guideline that can help us figure out which size might work for us so we can go from there. And that's where an on-line bra size calculator can be our best friend.
To use a bra size calculator, you first need to take some body measurements. That's going to require a tape measure. You can buy special tape measures, such as those used by seamstresses, but any household tape measure will work just fine, too. Using the tape measure you're going to take two measurements of your body. Keep the measurements in inches and write them down so they are accurate. You might even want to do the measurement more than once just to make sure you've gotten a correct reading.
For the first measurement, the tape measure should go around your body at the point just under your breasts. Make sure it is snug around your body and goes all the way around to ensure you get an accurate measurement. This is the band size.
For the second measurement, the tape measure should wrap around you body again but this time around the fullest part of your breasts. Again, make sure it goes all the way around. However, don't get it too snug or you might end up with an uncomfortable bra cup. This is the bust size.
Once you've written down these two measurements, you can enter them into the bra size calculator. When you hit 'calculate', you should be told what your band and cup sizes are.
Some of these bra size calculators also recommend that you include a third measurement known as the above bust size. To take this measurement, you would wrap the tape measure around the area of your body just above your breasts and go under your arms. This extra measurement is said to increase accuracy.
The nice thing about many of these calculators is that you can find your bra size in different countries as well. The measurements can vary a great deal. For example, a 44D in the United States would be a 22D in Australia and a 100E in Japan.
Another way you could find your bra size is by checking your tape measurements against a table of sizes.
Finding Your Bra Band Measurement

Step 2Next, find your cup size in our bra size calculator. You do this by finding the column with your bra size from step one, in the table below. Then find the tape measurement of the fullest part of your breasts in that column. The correct cup size will be in the left-most column of the whole chart.
